Welcome to a study of the Bible books of Daniel and Revelation. These books explain each other and provide us with maps and timelines to help us home. Only the Bible is used to interpret itself. The main attraction of these books is the Son of Man.
Love His Appearing
The Bible provides a pattern or picture or “example and shadow of heavenly things.” Hebrews 8:5. This is a glimpse of our future home where we will dwell with God. This picture of home teaches us about the work the Son of Man is doing right now to help us dwell together there one day. “Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.” Hebrews 6:19,20.
The way home is following in the steps of the Son of Man. Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps. Psalm 85:13 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33. As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness. Psalm 17:15. We follow in the steps of the Son of Man, our goal is the new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness. 2 Peter 3:13. Seeking Righteousness is at the core of the books of Daniel and Revelation, especially in Daniel 9 and in the Trumpets of Revelation.
The books of Daniel and Revelation help to unmask an Adversary to our homeward journey. The books reveal his attack and final destruction. He has but a short time…Revelation 12:12. This Adversary and Usurper does not let his prisoners loose homeward. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners [did not let his prisoners loose homeward]? Isaiah 14:12-17
Dwell in the house of the Lord forever
I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah. Psalm 61:4 Blessed is the man whom thou chooses, and causes to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple. Psalm 65:4 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Psalm 23:6
In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sits on the throne shall dwell among them. Revelation 7:15 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. Revelation 21:3 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore. Ezekiel 37:26-28
Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established. The LORD shall reign for ever and ever. Exodus 15:17,18
