Continual Priesthood

“The duty of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest shall be the oil for the light, the sweet incense, the continual meal offering, and the anointing oil, the requirements of all the tabernacle, and of all that is in it, the sanctuary, and its furnishings.” Numbers 4:16

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is within the veil; where as a forerunner Jesus entered for us, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:19,20

By so much, Jesus has become the collateral of a better covenant.  Many, indeed, have been made priests, because they are hindered from continuing by death.  But he, because he lives forever, has his priesthood unchangeable.  Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.  For such a high priest was fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;  who doesn’t need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices daily, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. For he did this once for all, when he offered up himself.  For the law appoints men as high priests who have weakness, but the word of the oath which came after the law appoints a Son forever who has been perfected.  Hebrews 7:22-28

Continual incense

Aaron shall burn incense of sweet spices on it every morning. When he tends the lamps, he shall burn it.  When Aaron lights the lamps at evening, he shall burn it, a perpetual incense before Yahweh throughout your generations.  Exodus 30:7,8

Your iniquity is taken away, and your sin forgiven

In the year that king Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up; and his train filled the temple.  Above him stood the seraphim. Each one had six wings. With two he covered his face. With two he covered his feet. With two he flew.  One called to another, and said, “Holy, holy, holy, is Yahweh of Armies! The whole earth is full of his glory!”  The foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.  Then I said, “Woe is me! For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell among a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, Yahweh of Armies!”  Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar.  He touched my mouth with it, and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin forgiven.” Isaiah 6:1-7

Continual Burnt offering

… in addition to the burnt offering of the new moon, and its meal offering, and the continual burnt offering and its meal offering, and their drink offerings, according to their ordinance, for a pleasant aroma, an offering made by fire to Yahweh.  Numbers 29:6

You shall tell them, ‘This is the offering made by fire which you shall offer to Yahweh: male lambs a year old without defect, two day by day, for a continual burnt offering.  You shall offer the one lamb in the morning, and you shall offer the other lamb at evening; with one tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a meal offering, mixed with the fourth part of a hin of beaten oil.  It is a continual burnt offering, which was ordained in Mount Sinai for a pleasant aroma, an offering made by fire to Yahweh.  Its drink offering shall be the fourth part of a hin for the one lamb. You shall pour out a drink offering of strong drink to Yahweh in the holy place.  The other lamb you shall offer at evening. As the meal offering of the morning, and as its drink offering, you shall offer it, an offering made by fire, for a pleasant aroma to Yahweh.  Numbers 28:3-8

“Command Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the burnt offering: the burnt offering shall be on the hearth on the altar all night until the morning; and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it. Leviticus 6:9

“Now this is that which you shall offer on the altar: two lambs a year old day by day continually.   The one lamb you shall offer in the morning; and the other lamb you shall offer at evening: and with the one lamb a tenth part of an ephah of fine flour mixed with the fourth part of a hin of beaten oil, and the fourth part of a hin of wine for a drink offering.  The other lamb you shall offer at evening, and shall do to it according to the meal offering of the morning, and according to its drink offering, for a pleasant aroma, an offering made by fire to Yahweh.  It shall be a continual burnt offering throughout your generations at the door of the Tent of Meeting before Yahweh, where I will meet with you, to speak there to you.  Exodus 29:38-42

Burn Continually

“You shall command the children of Israel, that they bring to you pure olive oil beaten for the light, to cause a lamp to burn continually. Exodus 27:20

I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. Having turned, I saw seven golden lamp stands.  And among the lamp stands was one like a son of man, clothed with a robe reaching down to his feet, and with a golden sash around his chest. Revelation 1:12,13

Continual grain offering

“This is the offering of Aaron and of his sons, which they shall offer to Yahweh in the day when he is anointed: one tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a meal offering perpetually, half of it in the morning, and half of it in the evening. Leviticus 6:20

Continual showbread

Behold, I am about to build a house for the name of Yahweh my God, to dedicate it to him, to burn before him incense of sweet spices, for the continual show bread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, on the new moons, and on the set feasts of Yahweh our God. This is an ordinance forever to Israel. 2 Chronicles 2:4

“On the table of show bread they shall spread a blue cloth, and put on it the dishes, the spoons, the bowls, and the cups with which to pour out; and the continual bread shall be on it. Numbers 4:7

“Yet even now,” says Yahweh, “turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.”  Tear your heart, and not your garments, and turn to Yahweh, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity. Who knows? He may turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meal offering and a drink offering to Yahweh, your God. Joel 2:12-14
